Electric Cars at West Chevrolet in Tennessee
If you’re looking for an electric vehicle near Knoxville, Tennessee, West Chevrolet can be your go-to dealership with the variety of cars and trucks you want. Whether you’re looking for the newest 2024 models or ones from previous years, our dealership and its vast inventory should be your first and only stop for the best electric cars and trucks that are anything but boring and meet your needs.
2023 Chevy Bolt EV
The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV can run approximately 259 miles on a full charge, but that varies based on several factors, including the condition of the vehicle. It takes 6.5 seconds to go from 0-60 mph and has 200 horsepower. There’s plenty of legroom, and it can fit five people comfortably, including the driver.
Many features of the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV make this an appealing car for those who want perks like a touch screen that lets you evaluate your energy usage. There’s also a driver information center that consistently details how much battery life you have left until your next charge, so you can plan accordingly while driving.
There's no shortage of safety features that are part of the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV, such as a forward collision alert and front pedestrian braking. These features may be especially comforting for drivers not used to driving in significant traffic or who have just gotten their license.
Drivers can choose between plugging the cord into a 120-volt charging station (Level 1) or one that’s 240 volts (Level 2). Keep in mind that the Level 2 charging option can charge the vehicle significantly faster than the Level 1.
2024 Silverado EV
The 2024 Silverado EV is a truck with a max towing capacity of up to 10,000 pounds, allowing you to have much of the power from your standard gas-powered truck but entirely run on electricity instead. However, it's important to remember that the more weight you’re towing, the more likely you’ll have to stop sooner to charge the vehicle, so plan carefully if you'll be picking up heavy items like furniture.
The truck has an approximate 400-mile charging range. Like the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV, it has the option of Level 1 or Level 2 charging. If you're interested in a quick charge, it can take about 100 miles after charging for only 10 minutes.
There’s a hugely beneficial amount of space in the back, as you can easily fit items up to 10' x 10", giving you plenty of options whether you’re moving furniture to a new home or going on a serious shopping spree. Special bed features include an inner gate load stop and the ability to open the gate via a gate button, the key fob or an interior switch.
Some of its many additional features include more than a dozen camera views so you can safely get a look at all angles surrounding the truck, 24-inch aluminum wheels, hands-free driving and a following distance indicator. It has 754 horsepower and can go from 0-60 in less than 4.5 seconds.
2024 Blazer EV
Let’s talk about the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, which has an electric range of 320 miles and a battery limited warranty of 100,000 miles or 8 years, whichever comes first. This SUV has Level 1 or Level 2 charging options.
It can go from 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and has 557 horsepower. The 17.7-inch diagonal display screen and 11-inch diagonal driver information screen make it easy to see the details in a simple-to-scan format. Its hands-free driving technology balances with safety features that include a following distance indicator and automatic emergency braking.
There are three Blazer EV trims available: the RS (summer 2023), 2LT (fall 2023) and the SS (spring 2024).
2024 Equinox EV
The sporty 2024 Equinox EV has a battery limited warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever of the two comes first, and a full charge can take you about 300 miles. Charging it for 10 minutes will get you approximately 70 miles, which is a great option if the battery is running low yet you need to head out to run some local errands. Level 1 and Level 2 charging options are available.
It’s offered in a range of hues, including black, Radiant Red Metallic, Riptide Blue Metallic and Summit White, so you can choose which color you most desire. Interiors are available in Jet Black or Jet Black/Sky Cool Gray. The three types of trims are the 2RS (available in fall 2023) the 1LT and the 2LT, both of which are available in spring 2024.
The 2024 Equinox EV can go from 0-60 in about 6 seconds. It has a towing capability of up to 1,500 pounds and has 290 horsepower. Some of the many safety features include lane keep assist, IntelliBeam auto high beams and automatic emergency braking, ensuring safety is a high priority.
Are Electric Cars More Energy-Efficient Than Gas-Powered Cars?
One of the biggest draws of electric cars is that they’re more energy efficient than cars powered by gas. You may be surprised to learn that only a minimal amount of the energy of gas-powered vehicles goes to the wheels, while the opposite is true for electric vehicles.
Can I Use Public Chargers to Charge My Electric Car?
Many electric car owners charge their vehicles at home and plan accordingly for when they need to go out and about, but there are public charging stations available where you can charge your car if needed. You can easily search for options to find the location closest to you, even while on the road. There are tens of thousands of charging stations available.
How Do Cold Temperatures Affect Electric Cars?
If you're going to take your electric car out on the road when the temperatures drop, expect to see a difference in battery life and its use from when the weather is warmer. These changes are due to several factors, including having the heat and/or defroster on inside the vehicle and the car trying to keep its battery at a workable temperature so the car properly runs.
You should plan for extra time to charge your vehicle during the cold weather. The battery tends to take longer to charge, so if you typically charge it before going to work in the morning, allocate extra time for charging and potential inclement weather conditions. Our team can provide you with vehicle-specific information about how much additional time you might want to plan for depending on how long it usually takes you to get from your home to your job.
Which EVs Are Eligible for the Federal Tax Credit?
An electric vehicle may be available for a federal tax credit, but there are a lot of conditions about which you first have to know. Your purchase has to meet certain government requirements to qualify, including that it needs to have been purchased on or after a certain date, it has to have been bought new and your income level has to fit within a specific range based on your filing status.
Your electric vehicle must also meet certain qualifications; it has to be below a specific manufacturer suggested retail price, and its final assembly has to be in North America.
If you’re interested in purchasing an electric vehicle that qualifies for a federal tax credit, West Chevrolet in Tennessee can help you find the right options that also meet your preferences. When you visit our dealership, let us know before the search begins that you're interested in this, so we can narrow down the options to ones that fit within the qualifications.
Once you purchase the electric vehicle, we can also provide you with information about our part in helping you get the federal credit, such as the details we have to give the government about your new purchase.
How Long Does It Take to Charge an Electric Car?
Unfortunately, there’s not one set amount of time that it takes to charge an electric car. There are several factors involved, including what level of charging option you’re using and the type of battery your vehicle has. Newer electric cars tend to take less time to charge than older models.
Our team members can provide you with an estimate of how long each electric vehicle you're interested in takes to charge when you visit our dealership and browse through our inventory. Let us know your preferences and needs, and we can show you selections that fit within your desired charging time frame.
